It's been nearly a month since eight inmates escaped from a Clovis jail. Four of the men are still on the loose while a mother continues to plead for her son to turn himself in.
20-year-old Larry McClendon is one of the four still on the run. Now his mother is hoping her appearance on America's Most Wanted brings him back. McClendon escaped with eight others late last month from the Curry County jail. His mother, Melody Carter tells us that just a week later, she got a call from him. She says all he told her was that he is okay, but not where he is or who he is with. Now Carter says she still feels her son is innocent of the murder charges he faces and wants him to know it's better for him right now to go back to jail.
"I was relieved at the time because I knew that he was alive....because I don't know these other people that escaped and I don't know if he's with them and if they're armed and dangerous."
McClendon is accused of shooting a store clerk with three other men. He is expected to have a court date this January. The three others still on the run are Edward Salas, Michael England, and Louis Chavez.
