There's several non-profit organizations here in Lubbock who are ready to assist those suffering from disaster, including recent house fires. Some of those include, Susie's Closet, along with the South Plains Red Cross, but of course they need your help to help others.

"We've certainly spent a little money over the last few days and so we are looking for increased donations to help make sure we are able to be at the next fire," said volunteer Bill Curnow

Curnow with the South Plains Red Cross said over the weekend they were extremely busy assisting four families in three separate house fires, two of which were right here in Lubbock.

"Everything we've done through the past three days has been provided through donations by the American people," he said.

Curnow, along with several non profit organizations, including Susie's Closet, strive to help those dealing with disaster.

"If we can help, we want to,thats what we are here for," said Courtney Hagler, president of Susie's Closet.

This weekend's series of fires started Friday, after a home in Muleshoe went up in flames.

Early Saturday morning a father of five and his children are homeless after their mobile home at Applegate Shady Acres burned to a complete loss.

And again early Sunday morning, two families were displaced as a fire ripped through their east Lubbock home.

"We arrive on the scene and the fire is frequently still going and they need help right then and there," said Curnow.

"When you do donate to the Red Cross you are right there helping us at the moment that heartbreak turns to hope."

If you'd like to donate to Susie's Closet they are always taking donations Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. located at 224 Buddy Holley Avenue.
