A group of physical therapy patients are now calling Lubbock home, after finding out their Galveston rehabilitation center was under a foot of water from Hurricane Ike. The Transitional Learning Center here in Lubbock almost quadrupled their number of patients this week. They now care for an extra 22 patients who have life-altering brain injuries. These patients and staff left their Galveston family and friends behind, to continue their therapy here in Lubbock. "The people in Lubbock are carrying the ball and showing us that they really have the ability to lead and to be on par with what weve had in Galveston for 25 years," says TLC Galvestons Brent Masel. Dr. Masel says his patients and staff will stay in Lubbock until their Galveston facility is back up and running. They expect the clean-up to take at least a month.
