Hurricane Ike's destruction is still very present in Southeast Texas and Breedlove Foods is doing their part to help the hungry.

The Salvation Army and Lubbock's own Breedlove are coordinating efforts to provide millions with food along the Texas Coast.

The folks at Breedlove have been working 20 hour days, already prepared to fill a truck to send to the Gulf.

Just one truck provides one million servings of food and Breedlove has the potential to send up to three trucks a day- that would be about three million servings of food to those folks in need.

Exactly when these trucks will be leaving is still unknown, but they say they're ready to go when needed.

"Some of those areas have not been able to get back in their homes, but we're trying to make sure when they do, we're going to have something for them, they'll go back there and have the food.  We're kind of concentrating on trying to take care of them right now, but we're planning for the future right now," says Major Ernest Branscum from the Salvation Army.

Both Breedlove and the Salvation Army are in need of donations still and if you would like to help either organization, you can call Breedlove at 741-0404 or go to the Salvation Army website at salvationarmyusa.org.
