The Westerners started out on fire, as Josh Brownfield hit from downtown, giving LHS the 7-0 lead, part of a 10-0 run to start.
But Monterey stopped the bleeding, Tyler Chapman came off the screen and got the bucket to cut the lead to eight.
Dequalin McGraw also pitched in some long ball for Lubbock High, knocking down the three, to put Lubbock High up by nine.
And the Westerners win it 63-57.
