The Boy Scouts of America released a statement on Monday stating they are re-evaluating a century-old policy.

"There were gay people in my troop," said current Eagle Scout Cody Fell, but he says it was something that was never discussed.

"I don't think it's a big deal honestly," said Nicholas Jones.

Jones, a former scout said he too had a gay scout in his troop.

"He told us, but it was after the fact and it really didn't bother any of us," said Jones about a scout in his troop who admitted to being gay.

As of right now if you are openly gay you are not allowed in the Boy Scouts of America, but that decision could soon change.

"I don't think it should have too big of an affect after people get over the initial shock that there's gay people in the organization," said Fell.

Under a new proposed policy the national organizations would allow local troops to choose whether or not to allow gay members.

"I think that a lot of people will just accept it anyway," said Jones.

Fell said he agrees.

"They are still the same person we knew before," he said.

This is not a final decision and the Boy Scouts of America have yet to release a time line on when they will decide.
