Trenard Nunley, 21, was found guilty today for abusing his girlfriend's son last year.
A Lubbock jury convicted Nunley this morning for deliberately holding Jalen Shaw, 3, in a tub of scalding hot water as an act of discipline.
The child suffered second and third degree burns from the water.
Jalen told nurses, at the hospital, that Nunley also hit him with a chair.
Deputy District Attorney Sunshine Stanek said she's thankful for the jury and their decision.
"This has been a very difficult week," said Stanek. "Some very touch evidence to view as in any child abuse case, but definitely one of the worst burn cases we've seen in the past years in Lubbock County."
Nunley was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his crime.
