Juniors Trey Masek and Jake Barrios among top MLB Draft prospects by Baseball America
LUBBOCK, Texas -
A pair of Texas Tech juniors were honored Monday by Baseball America
who released its Big 12 Conference preview while both right-handed
pitcher
Trey Masek (Giddings, Texas) and infielder Jake Barrios (Weatherford,
Okla.) were among its "Top Prospects" heading into the 2013 season.
Masek was tabbed the No. 2 draft prospect in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma's left-handed pitcher Dillon Overton.
Masek
is Tech's most experienced pitcher with 34 career appearances, 17
starts and with 120 innings pitched with 79 strikeouts while posting
seven wins and two saves

pitchers in the prestigious Cape Cod League as he ranked fifth in the
league with 47 strikeouts and went 3-3 with a 3.17 ERA while being named
an all-star.
Barrios
was listed as the No. 15 MLB Draft prospect in the league as he enters
his first season with the Red Raiders after back-to-back standout years
at Seward County
Community College in the Jayhawk Conference.
Barrios
batted .354 (70-for-198) as a sophomore at Seward County with 45 runs,
14 doubles, two triples and 49 RBI. He was named the league's freshman

All-Tournament team in Grand Junction, Colo. at the JUCO World Series.
The Red Raiders were predicted to finish in sixth-place in the nine-team baseball league by the publication.
Texas
Tech will open its season hosting Opening Day on Friday, Feb. 15
