This happened Wednesday morning around 9:30 on 53rd street.
Nancy Donahoo was home alone this morning at her house near 53rd and slide when she heard a knock at her door. She went to her window to see who it was, and she said she saw a tall male standing outside trying to get in.
"I heard him just kick the back door just real, real hard and he broke it he broke the back door," said Donahoo.
She added that this is they kind of thing you never think will happen to you, until it does.
"I just stayed in my bedroom when I first heard him banging on the backdoor I picked up my dog and ran into my bedroom."
When Donahoo locked herself inside her bedroom she called her son first, before calling police. She said she was panicking so much he was the first person she could think of to call.
"I was just so upset and so shaky all I could think about was just getting him home."
She said nothing was actually taken from her home but she had never been so scared in her life.
"This is the first time this has happened to me."
Donahoo's son, Freddy, rushed home immediately from work, and said police told him that arming the house is the best way to ensure his mother's safety.
"They were like do you own a gun and we were like no and the cop is like you need to get a shotgun. A shotgun is the best thing, you just point and pull the trigger," said Freddy Donahoo, Nancy's son.
Witnesses described the suspects as three black males wearing all black. They were last seen getting into a gray SUV, driving west on 53rd street.
