Slaton resident Randy Hoffman said his stepson and daughter-in-law are two of the passengers stuck aboard the stranded Carnival Cruise. Although the coast guard is working to tow the crippled ship back to land, Hoffman said he is still extremely concerned for their safety.
Hoffman said he has not been able to contact his family on the cruise.
He said he has heard that the toilets don't flush and the cabin carpets are wet with urine and water.
The only details he's received about the situation are from the media, but nothing on the condition of his family and Hoffman said that's frustrating.
"Still no details so you don't know if somebody is hurt or just what the story is," said Hoffman. "Right now, understanding the toilets not working quite well the sanitary aspect of this whole thing is really in question. A lot of folks are having to camp out on the decks which increases our concern, especially for the other passengers as well as the kids on there."
Carnival Cruise will fully refund Hoffman's family and the rest of the passengers on board for their so-called vacation. They will also receive a voucher for another cruise.
