Alstrom Syndrome is very rare with only 800 cases in the entire world.
Bryce Johnston is 4 years old and is already losing her sight to Alstrom Syndrome and she will likely lose her hearing and the function of other organs as she gets older.
Bryce's mother, Cassie Johnston, says because Alstrom Syndrome is so rare is doesn't get nearly enough funding like more well know diseases.
"ASI, what we call Alstrom Syndrome International, does not grant funding like other well known disease because it effects such a small population. So the majority of funds that they receive to do medical research and provide family support comes from individuals and small businesses."
The Alstrom Angels Benefit Dinner is Saturday February 16th at 7:00 pm at Four Bar K at 302 E. 82nd Street, Lubbock, TX, 79404.
