Board of Health Chair Dr. Brian Carr and Board Member Dr. Donald May spent part of Friday's Board of Health meeting talking about their personal issues.

According to Dr. May, Dr. Carr has been leaving comments regarding the Board of Health on his political blog.  Dr. Carr, however, said he has issues with Dr. May, saying Dr. May is letting his political beliefs guide his votes on the Board of Health.

"I don't think the chair of a board should be trying to change the mind of another board member by intimidation or abuse of power of the office," said Dr. May about the comments Dr. Carr left.

"I just wanted to put this out there, and now citizens can make their own judgment," said Dr. Carr, about why these issues were brought up during the meeting Friday.

During the meeting, the two agreed they will have differing opinions on certain issues regarding Board of Health issues. "You're right, we will continue to oppose each other because I believe you are acting counter to the direct interest of public health," said Dr. Carr.

"That's your opinion and I disagree with you," said Dr. May in response.

Councilwoman Latrelle Joy was also in attendance, and told the two men "this needs to stop," and they needed to work on discussing their issues outside of the meeting, something both men said they were thankful she spoke up about.
