Accused Animal Abuser Changes Mind on Selling Animals

Neighbors said Shawn Shoemaker has been neglecting his animals for years, rarely providing them with food or water. Some even accuse him of beating his horses.
More than six neighbors have come forward, who all said that Shoemaker is simply not caring for his animals properly and that they are in terrible condition.
Last week we spoke to Shoemaker who said he was going to sell his animals because he didn't want to deal with his neighbors complaints anymore. Now he said that he has changed his mind and wants to keep them all.
Although he said that his neighbors have not confronted him about the issue, several neighbors told KAMC that they have in fact told him directly that he needs to take better care of his animals.
Monday, a week after KAMC'S initial report on Shoemaker, we asked him why his animals were so bony and frail.
He answered, "Their weight was down because that feed was--they weren't getting enough because of what the bag said "
Shoemaker blamed their frail bodies on the labels on the brand of food he was giving his horses.
He told us that he has been feeding his horses more since the story KAMC did last week.
Neighbors are concerned that even though he has changed his habits this week, he will soon go back to neglecting them in the near future.
