A 14-year-old Plainview boy is dead tonight after officials say he suffered a severe asthma attack at a homecoming bonfire.
14-year-old Brentod Wooley was an eighth grader at Estacado Junior High in Plainview. He was attending the annual homecoming bonfire Thursday night when he had to be rushed to a Lubbock hospital for an asthma attack. He later died. Now, Estacado's principal Ritchie Thornton says today was tough on everyone.
"It just breaks your heart. Students, and former teachers of the boy...it's just hard. The whole town is feeling it because he was from here in Plainview."
Thornton says counselors were at the school all morning helping the students and faculty. All athletic events for the Junior High have been cancelled for next week.
