Lubbock DPS say they may be cold cases, but they are not forgotten. Their investigators have continued to work on all of these cases over the years. But they are launching this new website trying to get the public's attention and get the tips they desperately need.

"What we are hoping is to generate new interest in the public that they might come forward with new information, new leads," said Sergeant Bryan Witt with Lubbock DPS.

There is a new online effort from Texas DPS to solve cold cases. Five of those here in Lubbock county, three others not far away.

"It is very important to solve these crimes. Not only to bring closure to the families but to bring these ruthless criminals to justice," said Witt.

The two most recent cold cases in Lubbock county are those of Cynthia Palacio and Linda Carbajal, both found strangled to death in rural Lubbock county in 2003 and 2004.

"Every day that goes by you know people in the community may not think of these people the families never forget about it," said Witt.

If you make an online tip that leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for reward. Sergeant Witt says they are working in combination with other local law enforcement agencies, including Crimeline.

"We are working hand in hand with crime line to offer rewards to these people if they want to call in and you don't have to give them your name," said Witt.

He stresses that no tip is too small to report. He says even the smallest piece of information can be the key to solving the case.

Their new website is: http://www.dps.texas.gov/TexasRangers/UnsolvedHomicides/Index.htm
