A town hall meeting has been scheduled for Monday after City Council members received several calls about their decision to cut ties with Tech hockey.

The uproar began after the council voted 5 to 2 to not renew its leasing contract with Tech's Hockey Club.  The 2 members who voted to renew the contract, Floyd Price and Linda DeLeon want to hear the public's opinion.  Price says ending the contract also means ending youth programs that are beneficial to the city.  But Mayor Tom Martin says it was best for the city, who was losing money with the contract.

Floyd Price, City Councilman:
"I was upset because so many youth...it's not just the Texas Tech hockey club that makes the impact, but it's the youth program they have."

Mayor Tom Martin:
"We were not covering the cost of keeping the coliseum open for under the old contract and we have to recover the cost.  We don't give city services away so somebody has to pay for it."

The meeting is scheduled for Monday at 4 P.M. at the City Council Chambers.
