Lubbock Drivers Struggle in Blizzard

Today's weather made it extremely difficult for drivers in the South Plains, and that includes right here in Lubbock.

"It's a mad house out here, obviously its a blizzard. Its crazy cold, the snow has been piling up," said one driver who was stranded on one of the roadways today.

A mad house to say the least. Dozens of people were stranded on Lubbock roads Monday after a blizzard that hit the city hard.

Another driver from Texas said he has never been an a blizzard quite so severe.

"I'm from Houston and we don't ever get weather like this down there this is my first blizzard right here."

The thick sheets of snow and icy roads had cars spinning out of control, landing into ditches, and even causing rollovers. Red raider wrecker said they received over three hundred calls for help by early afternoon. They only had 8 servicemen tending to all of the calls and with limited help from other wrecker services, today people were helping each other out on the roads

"It's definitely a moment where I guess the city kind of comes and joins in camaraderie and tries to help each other out."
