Musicians, athletes and TV personalities are among the new crop of celebrity contestants who will take to the dance floor on season 16 of "Dancing With the Stars."
The new cast of ABC's hit show was revealed today, exclusively on "Good Morning America," and the headliners include country music legend Wynonna Judd, former "Idol" finalist Kellie Pickler, reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump and NFL star Jacoby Jones.
Jones isn't the only athlete on the show. Olympic
gymnast Aly Raisman, professional boxer Victor Ortiz, and figure skating
legend Dorothy Hamill will compete this season. Comedians D.L. Hughley
and Andy Dick, as well as "General Hospital" star Ingo Rademacher, and
Disney star Zendaya Coleman round out the star-studded pack.
Hosts
Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet appeared live on "GMA" from
Studio B in Los Angeles today to make the highly-anticipated
announcement of the cast. They also unveiled the professional partners,
which include reigning pro
champ Tony Dovolani, veterans Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas, Derek Hough,
Karina Smirnoff, Kym Johnson, as well as some new faces. See the list
below for the official pairings.
The new season kicks off with a
two-hour premiere on Monday, March 18 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC. The
couple with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes for
their performance will be sent home in the season premiere of "Dancing
With the Stars: The Results Show."
Wynonna Judd
Country music great Wyonna Judd
will bring a dose of Nashville, Tenn., to the dance floor this season.
The five-time-Grammy-winner-turned-reality-TV-star rose to fame as a
country music duo with her mother, Naomi, but broke out on her own to
have a successful solo career with more than a dozen No. 1 singles.
"This is something I said I
would never do," Judd said about joining the season 16 cast.
"They've asked me for six years. I'm trying to get back to my original
weight of 8 lbs, 15 oz. Because it's the year of doing things that
you're scared of."
Pro Partner: Tony Dovolani. Veteran pro Dovolani is the reigning
pro champ, winning last season's "All-Star" competition with partner
Melissa Rycroft. He returns to dance for a 15th season.
D.L. Hughley
Stand-up
comedian and actor D.L. Hughley will give "Dancing" a whirl this season. The
comic shot to fame on the beloved sitcom, "The Hughleys," and went on to become a
TV personality and political pundit.
Pro Partner: Cheryl Burke. The two-time pro champ Cheryl Burke returns for her 15th season.
Jacoby Jones
The
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver is the latest NFL star to put his
football footwork to the test in the ballroom. Jones, who's known for
his victory dances in the end zone, joins the "DWTS" cast on the heels
of the Ravens' big Super Bowl victory where he scored two touchdowns.
The 28-year-old follows in the footsteps of past NFL stars Donald
Driver, Hines Ward and Emmitt Smith, who won the competition.
Pro Partner: Karina Smirnoff. Pro dancer Smirnoff, who won season 13 with soap opera star and veteran J. R. Martinez, returns for her 13th season.
Lisa Vanderpump
"Real
Housewife of Beverly Hills" star Lisa Vanderpump is competing this
season. The British TV personality, restaurateur and bestselling author
is best known for her role on the Bravo reality show about her luxurious
lifestyle -- and her Pomeranian Giggy.
Pro Partner: Gleb Savchenko. The professional dancer makes his "DWTS" debut this season.
Andy Dick
Comedian
Andy Dick is bringing his quips and humor to the dance floor this
season. The funnyman is also an actor, director, producer and musician
who fronts his own comedy band.
Pro Partner: Sharna Burgess. Dick is paired with pro dancer Sharna Burgess, who makes her "DWTS" debut.
Victor Ortiz
Professional boxer Victor Ortiz, a former welterweight champion, will enter the "Dancing" ring this season.
Pro Partner: Lindsay Arnold.
Jones is teaming up with pro dancer Lindsay Arnold, who is making her
debut this season as a professional partner. She trained with fellow pro
Mark Ballas and has appeared on "So You Think You Can Dance?"
Zendaya Coleman
The
Disney star, known by her fans as Zendaya, is an actress, singer and
dancer on the Disney channel's hit series "Shake It Up" and at 16, will
be the youngest contestant ever on the show. Coleman plays Rocky Blue, a
young dancer trying to dance her way to stardom, and is currently
recording her debut album.
Pro Partner: Valentin Chmerkovskiy. Coleman is paired up with dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy, a finalist from last season, who returns for his fourth season.
Aly Raisman
Olympic
gymnast Aly Raisman is going for the "Dancing" gold. The gymnast became
a household name as part of women's gymnastics team's "Fierce Five" at
the London Olympics last summer, where she took home a gold medal for
her performance on floor.
Pro Partner: Mark Ballas. Raisman will dance with two-time winner Mark
Ballas, a "DWTS" veteran who returns for his 12th season. Ballas won the
season 8 mirror ball trophy with Raisman's former teammate, Olympic
gymnast Shawn Johnson.
Ingo Rademacher
The German-born actor, best known for his longtime
role as Jasper "Jax" Jacks on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital,"
will put on his dancing shoes for season 16.
Pro Partner: Kym Johnson. Veteran Kym Johnson is a two-time champ who returns for her 13th season on the show.
Kellie Pickler
No
stranger to reality TV competition, country music singer Kellie Pickler
will put her skills to the test on "Dancing." The former "American
Idol" contestant will be the first competitor to cross over from "Idol." Pickler made headlines in September for shaving off her long blonde hair in support of her childhood friend battling breast cancer.
Pro Partner: Derek Hough. Hough is a three-time champion, who returns for his 11th season.
Dorothy Hamill
The
figure skating great will trade her ice skates for dancing shoes to
compete this season. Hamill, 56, won the 1976 Olympic gold medal in
women's figure skating at age 19, wowing audiences with her
envelope-pushing spins on the ice and her iconic hair.
Pro Partner: Tristan MacManus. MacManus returns for his fourth
season on the show. The pro dancer has been partnered with contestants
Pamela Anderson, Gladys Knight and Nancy Grace.
