It has been a brutal winter for the residents living on the east side of the Villas at Lamesa. They've been going without gas, their only source of heat, for nearly two months. Instead of fixing the problem, the manager has given them small electrical heaters to keep them warm.

Carol Johnson is one of several residents at the Villas in Lamesa living without heat.

"I have diabetes and it would be nice to have my gas because I can't eat right and my sugar's been up ever since," said Johsnon. "And plus,  we cant take showers it's been cold."

That's right no hot water and no stove to cook with. It's been nearly two months and all the manager has done is given each unit a few small heaters to keep them warm for the winter.

"I just feel like they don't care much about this part of the apartment complex."

Johnson said she's been forced to eat out and buy frozen meals for the microwave, which has been tough on her diabetes.

"They say well we'll take care of this and that and I say well I never see anybody out here working or doing anything."

Another resident said she has to go to her parents to shower.

"I either have to go to my moms or my other friends housing baths," said Choryl Jackson, a resident at Villas at Lamesa.

Johnson said several of the residents have been reminding the manager of the problem but nothing much is being done about it.

The apartment manager told KAMC they've been waiting months for a company to come in to resolve the problem. Until then, the small electrical heaters are all these residents have to keep them warm this winter.
