A police chase down 82nd St. ended in a crash Wednesday night.

Lubbock Police say the chase started just before 7:30 when an officer attempted to stop the suspect vehicle for speeding near the intersection of 82nd and University Avenue.

Police say the chase headed west down 82nd St. before the car crashed into several cars at the intersection of 82nd and Indiana Avenue.

Police say the chase started in the 2200 block of 82nd, when they attempted to pull the car over.  That's when the car decided not to stop and took off.

The chase went from 82nd St., then off of 82nd into some neighborhood streets, before heading back out onto 82nd.  Along the way, police say they ended the chase, realizing it was leading to an unsafe situation.

The car continued down 82nd St. at about 65 miles per hour before going through the intersection at Indiana Avenue and hitting at least 4 cars.

Multiple people sustained minor injuries, police said. The suspect was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The intersection at 82nd and Indiana Ave. was closed following the crash and did not reopen until just after 10 Wednesday night.
