A very active crime scene at the 600 block of Main Avenue in Brownfield.

Police, investigators and several family members all crowding the scene as they found out Jesus Antonio and Rosa Contreras had been shot and murdered in their own home.

Many saying they can't believe their own son-in-law was their murderer.

"I knew he had a temper, but I didn't think he was capable of doing what he did," said Ramona Contreras, Jesus Antonio's sister.

She said he can't believe her brother and his wife are dead after being shot and killed by their son-in-law- 42-year-old  Jose Roel De Luna.

"He asked them where Blanca was, they didn't want to tell him," said Ramona.

She said De Luna went to her brother's home looking for his estranged wife, who was staying with her parents.

When they wouldn't say where she was -- he lost it.

"That's when he took the gun out and started shooting," she said.

Leaving her brother 70-year-old Jesus Antonio and his wife 63-year-old Rosa Contreras dead in their own home and an entire family left to grieve.

"Now he's not going to be there for me," cried Ramona.

Police said De Luna fled the scene after killing his in-laws.

He later wrecked with a tanker truck near Plains and DPS troopers were able to confirm he died of injuries sustained from the collision.

Ramona said De Luna often threatened her niece, but never thought he'd take things this far.

"She was trying to get a way from him," said Ramona.
