Since the hockey debate erupted last week, Lubbock City Council members have been divided over what should be subsidized. The City of Lubbock provides several services to businesses, private citizens and organizations without charging money. The services are payed for through taxes.

Councilwoman Linda DeLeon said she feels that Tech Hockey is a worthy cause, and the city need not shut it down because of a few thousand dollars. Opposition to the hockey team's latest contract renewal say the team should pay any deficits and the city needs to look into making a profit from rentals. Whether or not the two sides will come to an agreement will be determined next week at Lubbock City Council.
