Monterey Makes Quick Work of Permian

The First Bank Classic Baseball Tournament Rolled on this afternoon in Lubbock, with the Monterey Plainsmen playing host to the Permian Panthers out at Moegle Field.
In the 1st inning, Blake Walden was on the bump, and he was looking good early. As he got a strikeout to get the Plainsmen out of the inning.
In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded for Monterey and Jake Hohenburger lifts this one deep to left and is robbed on a tremendous catch by Permian, but it was deep enough to drive in the first run of the game making it 1-0.
Later in the same inning, Blake Walden was able to get out of the way, as the pitch got to the back stop and Kirby Archer comes in to score, 2-0 Monterey.
The Plainsmen went on to win this one by a final of 13-2, they get back in action next Saturday against the Cooper Pirates.
