The Red Raider baseball team took the series opener from UTA last night with an 8-3 victory, and they were back out at the Law Saturday Night, trying to clinch the series with the Mavericks.
Trey Masek was on the hill for the Red Raiders.
In the bottom of the 2nd, he got some help from his offense, as Tim Proudfoot grounded into the fielder's choice, that brought home Eric Gutierrez, and Tech took the 1-0 lead.
Top of the 4th same score, as Masek fooled Matt Shorthall looking, one of Masek's 7 strikeouts in the game.
In the bottom of the inning it was Gutierrez, lifting a ball to deep right center, that got down and rolled around, that allowed Gutierez to scoot around to third for the one out triple.
A few batters later it was Timmy Proudfoot again, this one finds turf and in comes Gutierrez Proudfoot's 2nd RBI of the game, and the Red Raiders are in business at 2-0.
And that was about all they would need as Masek was dealing tonight going 8 innings striking out
7 batters, and allowing no walks as the Red Raiders ride his 32 consecutive inning scoreless streak to a 4-1 victory.
