New details involving the frustrated community that has witnessed their neighbor, Shawn Shoemaker, neglect his animals for years.

When KAMC first did this story one of his horses had just died. Shoemaker said it was from tetnis, but neighbors said it was from lack of food and water.

Shoemaker originally told us that he was going to get rid of his animals, but later changed his mind.

Neighbors said that Shoemaker has not only not changed the way he feeds and waters his animals, but now, he is keeping them locked up in a small barn in the back of his house.

"Animal control and the sheriff's office know what's going on, and they havent done nothing, not a thing, said Nancy Peterson, one of Shawn's neighbors. "And it's pitiful. Animals can't talk for themselves somebody's got to."

Robert Peterson one of his neighbors said that he hasn't seen the horses of the barn since KAMC covered the story several weeks ago.  Jacob Leak, Johny Scott, and Nancy Peterson, also neighbors of Shoemaker said the same thing.

"We've been trying to get something done about the way he's been treating these animals for the last fifteen years and it just don't do any good," said Robert Peterson. "We've been calling animal control on him for all that long. Shawn probably just laughs at them."

The Sheriff's Department said it's an ongoing investigation and that they will not comment until they have assessed the entire situation thoroughly.

"All the sheriff's department has done is slap him on his hand and go about their business," said Nancy Peterson.

We did get the chance to speak to Shawn Shoemaker Monday who did not want to make any comments on camera. He said that just because his neighbors don't see him give his animals food and water doesn't mean he isn't doing it.

What is wrong with this city? People stand around while a known animal torturer locks his horses in a barn and no one does anything?
