The F-35 landed in Lubbock around 1:40 p.m. Monday, during it's trip from Fort Worth to the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada as part of a routine delivery flight.

An in-flight warning light went on and the pilot was forced to divert the plane and land in Lubbock.

The plane is part of the Air Force's new fleet of fighter jets. According to a Lockheed Martin spokesperson, the jet  is an F-35A Lightning II.

The jet spent hours sitting at Lubbock Aero.  Lockheed Martin sent a crew to Lubbock to inspect and repair the fighter jet.

According to Lockheed Martin, the plane landed without a problem, and the pilot was safe.
