Lubbock Police say Jubal Colvin, 39 of Abilene, tried to get into a concert at the amphitheater Monday night.
He was denied entrance, but then proceeded to jump a fence and enter the property. As security tried to get Colvin off the property, he went into a restricted area.
According to police, Colvin fell 20 feet and hit his head on the concrete below. He was taken to UMC where he died.
Police were originally called to the scene around 8 p.m. Monday for a possible dead body. Investigators spent hours on scene Monday night gathering information.
Eyewitnesses also said Monday night Colvin tried to bring a knife in, which was not allowed.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
Justin White, who worked with Colvin in Abilene said he and Colvin became close friends to the point White considered Colvin like a brother.
According to White, Colvin was a hard worker and great friend. The two shared many common interests.
White said he was devastated by the news of Colvin's death.
