The petition is underway. Today at the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, the organization Let Lubbock Vote launched the latest attempt to bring packaged alcohol sales to Lubbock. For that to happen, LLV needs roughly 19,000 valid signatures.  To accomplish the task, they have hired a professional petition company by the name of Texas Petition Strategies. TPS  boasts a 100 percent success rate in gathering valid signatures.

"As of last night we have 20 people on the ground ready to start today," said John Hatch of TPS,   "That doesn't include the volunteers. We have sixty days. That means we will turn them in by December 1."

The Lubbock Area Baptist Association's political action committee, Truth About Alcohol Sales, has pledged to fight the petition. If you are a registered voter and would like to sign the petition, you can go to any Wal-Mart and petition workers will assist you.
