The Texas Tech Baseball team has been on a roll as of late winning four of their last five games, but they had a tough test on Tuesday night hosting the 20th ranked team in the country, in Arizona State.

The evening was off to an exciting start as Kliff Kingsbury threw out the first pitch, on ladies night of all nights.

He would turn the ball over to Johnathon Tripp though and he would be in some trouble early, as Trevor Allen dropped one into right field to score Jake Peevyhouse, for the 3rd run of the inning, of the 3 run inning.

In the bottom of the frame though, Tech got one back as Eric Gutierrez singled home Devon Conley and Texas Tech pulled closer at 3-1.

Now in the 3rd, Tech was down 3-2, when Mason Randolph turned on one down the right field line  that would bring everybody home, as Gutierrez and Jararrd Poteete scored and the Red Raiders took back the lead at 4-3.

But in the 9th the game was tied at 6, when Arizona State plated one more to take the 7-6 lead. They would score one in the 7th, one in the 8th and one in the ninth, to hold a one run lead through 8 and a half innings.

But in the bottom of the inning Tech with a chance with the bases loaded, and Jake Barrios was at the plate gets hit by the pitch to tie the game at 7.

The next batter was Scott Lejune, and he would draw the walk, to seal the victory for the Red Raiders, with the 8-7 victory in a wild one at Rip Griffin Park.

The Red Raiders are now off to West Virginia this weekend for their 2nd conference series.
