Texas Tikes Lobby at State Capital For a State Pie

The group of first graders was learning about the Texas government as well as state symbols and they noticed Texas didn't have a state pie.
The precocious kids. along with their teacher, put together a bill requesting that the state pie of Texas be pecan, which makes sense since the state tree and nut are also pecan.
Owner of Choc'late Mousse Pie Bar, Carson McCabe, says the kids logic makes sense.
"I know my Texas history about that stuff pretty well. Nuts? Didn't know pecan was the state nut. Definitely knew pecan was the state tree. I can't really argue with pecan being the state pie. Might as well right?"
Simply Decadent Bakery in Lubbock is prepared to make a special Texas state pecan pie but if owner Krista Bailey had her way she would pick a different flavor."
"Just based on flavor alone I would choose the blueberry sour cream pie, it has pecan on top so..."
The Bill was passed unanimously by the House Culture, Recreation, and Tourism Committee and is now waiting for a vote from the Local and Consent Calendar where if its passed can move on to the House and Senate floors for approval.
