Economists say if you're looking to sell your home during the mortgage crisis, patience is the game to play. Dr. Ted Jones, Chief Economist for Stewart Title, said he believes despite the tough times the nation is facing, Lubbock has a reasonably stable housing market.

"The good news about Lubbock is that, even though we have had some job losses here, we just don't have any inventory of existing homes for sale," said Jones.

"We've always thought that eight or nine months of inventory is normal, but here you have maybe less than six months inventory. That is allowing good price stability here and it's a big shock absorber to a soft and weakening economy."

Jones said time is what you need to sell your home at its appropriate value.
