The water main break under the County Jail is now being repaired, but it's still unknown just how much the accident will cost Lubbock County. A water line busted at the Lubbock County Jail around 2 AM Saturday morning. Nearly 100 inmates were transported to jails in Hale, Terry and Dickens Counties.

Plumbing expenses, as well as inmate housing and transportation could cost the county thousands. The jail is already in violation of several jail standards, so County Commissioner, Bill McCay, says it's important to get the break fixed, no matter what the cost.

"This is something that you can't plan and you can't plan in advance, but we do have contingency plans in place in a number of areas in the county and we have contingency plans that will address this particular situation," Commissioner McCay says.

He says the Commissioners should know exactly how much the water main break will cost the county by the end of the week.
