There's only 20 days left until election day, so tonight's final debate between John McCain and Barack Obama has a lot at stake. And according to an ABC news poll, McCain is trailing Obama by 10 percent.
Tonight's focus will be on domestic policy and more social issues, Something that local debate experts say is a hard topic to persuade people on. Joe Gantt, who coaches the Texas Tech debate team, says both candidates need their own tactics to stay afloat in the race.He says since Obama's leading in the polls right now, he can't make any mistakes, and should plan on just sticking with what he's been doing so far. And because McCain is behind, he's got the bigger challenge of really challenging obama to grab up any last minute undecided voters.
"What John McCain's gotta do is, he's gotta say, 'this is a risky candidate.' you're taking a risk if you elect him president. And put enough of those doubts in people's minds... He won't win the election tonight. But he can at least keep himself in the game tonight." says Gantt.
