An accused murderer remains behind bars on a half a million dollar bond, while amother prepares to bury her son.

Police say 25 year old Steven Torres shot and killed 24 year old James Daniel Green.

It all started around 2:30 Thursday morning with a small 'fender bender' at the Town and Country at 19th and Milwaukee.

It ended with Torres shooting and killing Green.

Now just one day after losing her son, Daniel Green's mother is speaking out.

She's thanking the community for their overwhelming love and support.

"The family of Daniel Green just would like to thank the community and our many, many friends and our family for your love and your prayers and your support during this time.  This has been the most difficult time I think we've ever had to go through," Gala Green says.

The Green family would also like to thank the Lubbock Police Department for all of their hard work.

Daniel Green's funeral is scheduled for 2:00 Saturday at LakeRidge Chapel.
