A woman is in critical condition after police say she was severely beaten and raped.

Police were called out to 2102 Avenue O just after midnight by a neighbor who found the woman on his front porch.  The 45-year old female was covered in blood and nude from the waist down.  They say she had been beaten and sexually assaulted in a nearby field but managed to make her way to the house for help.  Her injuries were so severe, she could barely speak.  Police say she suffered several blows to the head.  A background check shows the woman has a history of prostitution.

Brad Wilbanks, Neighbor in area:
"It's kinda shocking, we've lived here for several months, and this is the first thing we've heard of happening over here."

Police say the woman was only able to identify her attacker as a white male.  If you have any information, call the Crimeline at 741-1000.
