A Texas Tech reserve defensive back is charged with dealing cocaine.
Red Raider De'Shon Sanders was arrested by DEA agents early Thursday morning.
DEA Spokesman David Ausiello says Sanders has been charged with felony possession with intent to distribute in excess of 50 grams of cocaine.
Sanders allegedly committed the offense in June in Lea County, New Mexico.
He was orginally booked in the Lubbock County Jail, but sources tell us Sanders has been taken to Amarillo to be arraigned in the Randall County Jail.
Ausiello tells us Sanders is facing a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison if convicted.
Sanders is from Hobbs, New Mexico and transferred to Tech from a Junior College in California.
"He is charged in the indictment with drug trafficking in Lea County in New Mexico, so the indictment came out of New Mexico. He happened to be in Texas and that's where the arrest took place," Ausiello says.
Sanders is not a starter for the Red Raiders, but has played in every game this year.
