Students Fight for KTXT

Texas Tech radio station KTXT, 'Lubbock's Only Alternative' now has a chance to be Lubbock's online alternative. KAMC 28 has been following this story since Wednesday when Tech officials said they could no longer afford to run 88.1 and killed the FM signal. Since then, Tech alums and community members have shown concern and support for the student DJ's fighting to keep KTXT alive. One alum has offered to help KTXT broadcast online, and he says he'll give the products to Tech to use for free.

"Having people that can work in the online and technological space is an infinitely valuable thing for those people. So for students that want to pursue a career in radio, I think the online alternative is a very good way to go," says Josh Roy with Spacial Audio Solutions.

Students say they'll still try and fight to keep 88.1 an FM station, but are definitely open to broadcasting online if they can't reach their audience over the air.
