cold pets      These frigid temperatures aren't just tough on people, animals are suffering too. It's expected to drop into the teens again Monday night so, the folks over at Lubbock Animal Services are reminding pet owners to provide adequate shelter for your cats and dogs. They recommend bringing the animals inside your home when it gets this cold, but if you can't, they say the next best thing is putting them in the garage or a dog house. They say if you don't do something to keep your pets out of the cold, you could face some serious fines.

Shawn Byrd with Lubbock Animal Services says, "We can fine you for failure to provide adequate shelter or care and we do have a criminal investigator that will investigate these kinds of complaints because it is basically animal cruelty."

If you see a pet that is being mistreated and left out in the cold with no shelter, you should call Lubbock Animal Services.  That number is 775-2057.
