Tight budgets this holiday season have many folks in Lubbock becoming 'thrifty.'

While the recession is hurting many retail stores, thrift stores are thriving.

Here in Lubbock, Goodwill is reporting an 8% increase in sales this holiday season.

They've even increased their customer base in our region by 4,000 people.

Goodwill's Director of Sales attributes their boost to the slow economy.

"They are realizing that you can get quality items in great condition for a fraction of the cost that you would at department stores," Director of Sales Sandra Perez says.

The American Council of the Blind Thrift Store is also reporting more business this holiday season.
