Water Line Break Hurts Local Businesses

The city is recovering from a water-main break during construction near Spur 327 and Frankford. It happened Tuesday evening, ater a 20-inch water line was hit and broken by a TXDOT worker. It blocked the intersection and cut off water to several businesses.
The city tells us around 3-30 Thursday afternoon is when they fixed the pipe, now they're just trying to fill the pipeline with water again. But after two days without, businesses in the area are frustrated that it's taken so long.
The scene Tuesday night was heavily congested with water flooding the streets.
Several businesses that rely heavily on water were shut down, and have been since the pipe broke. Hotels in the area aren't taking any more reservations until access to water is restored. RegiMen Salon staff say they keep having to cancel on their clientele, push them back -- but right before the holidays it's become a huge inconvenience.
Now -- Aubrey Spears with the city says it took 12 hours just to find where the break was, but now that it's fixed water should be back on by this evening.
But trying to run a business without water or answers for nearly 48 hours means thousands of dollars lost -- not to mention frustrating.
Natalie Craig, RegiMen Salon Owner: "You know, 327 the Spur is something new that they've been working on that they'd be able to see where the water lines are at, and be able to work through that. But apparently not."
Rob Meyers, Arbor Inn and Suites: "I've been in this business for 18 years, this is only the second time I've had water shut off from the city. First time was South Padre Island during a tropical storm. And it was out for about 6 hours. This is going on, what, 36?
Throughout Thursday evening, water has slowly been restored, but the westbound access road is still blocked off. City officials say it will still take several days to repair all the damage, so if you're traveling that way either allow yourself extra time or try another route all together.
