This year has been the deadliest year on Lubbock streets since the year 2000.
In 2008, we've seen a total of 37 traffic deaths...11 of those were motorcycle deaths. The numbers jumped significantly from last year, when Lubbock had 15 deaths, only 4 of those from motorcycle accidents. Corporal John Gonzalez of Texas DPS says because of the gas crunch earlier this year, there were more motorcycles on the road, meaning more motorcycle wrecks. He says it never gets any easier to see death as a result of a driving mistake.
"It's so sad to see so many people killed as a result of a bad choice or someone making those choices for you...speeding, no seatbelts, or drinking and driving."
