Bond Proposal Discussion

After years of neglecting city streets and infrastructure, members of the Lubbock City Council say now is the time to clean up.
On Thursday, the council will discuss a possible bond election and what projects will should be included.
A bond proposal of $300 million was proposed by a citizen's advisory committee back in 2007, but many members of the council felt it was too extravagant and included to many pet projects.
Councilman Todd Klein said this bond proposal will focus on basic services and city needs.
"Take care of the essential services first and foremost," said Klein. "We need to avoid what we had back in 2007."
Councilman Floyd Price of District 2 said he is most concerned over fairness and will not allow his district to be ingnored like it was in the 2007 proposal.
"There was not a thing," said Price. "That's the reason I'm saying that we need to look at the older part of our city and the neglected part of our city and bring that up to par with the other parts."
