As the shock from Sunday night's fire wears off, faculty and students are already back to work, trying to get a temporary school up and running. Students and staff spent much of Tuesday morning salvaging supplies that may have been spared by the fire.
First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church generously offered up space where the schools can temporarily hold classes, and other local school districts have already donated textbooks and school supplies. Teachers say it's a big step in moving forward after their loss.
Says Spanish teacher Kathlyn Azua, "It's going to be okay. It just shows you how the community helps and the churches are willing to open their doors and and the kids are appreciative." Coach Ray Jimenez says, "If it was a serious thing that they wanted to do to destroy the school, they did a good job of destroying the building, but we're still together and we're still here, and we're stronger than we've ever been."
