The recent salmonella scare has left many afraid to touch any type of peanut butter product. The Texas Peanut Producers Board says if you're shopping for nuts or peanut butter at your local grocery store, you're safe. The butter and paste infected with salmonella comes from an industrial food producer in Georgia, one that makes peanut butter tubs larger than ones you'd buy for home.

"It is nutritious, it's so convenient it's great for you, it's a good energy booster, so keep eating your peanuts and peanut butter," says Shelly Nutt with the Peanut Producers Board.

You can also add Girl Scout Cookies to your safe to eat list. The Girl Scouts here in Lubbock got confirmation from their cookie bakers, and from the FDA, that the peanut butter used in their patties and sandwhiches are safe.
