Lubbock County authorities are looking into who shot and killed a deer at a local petting zoo.

Kenny's Korral owner, Kenny Ellis, says around 6:00 Sunday evening he heard a gun shot coming from the County Road that borders his property.

When Ellis went to see what happened, he discovered one of his deer had been shot in the back.

That deer suffered critical injuries and had to be put down.

"The 10 years we've been here, this is the first vandalism or meanness, or whatever you want to call it, that's ever happened out here.  All these guys here are my pets," Ellis says.

Ellis asks if you know anything about this crime to call the Sheriff's Department.
