A former Texas Tech student, wrongly convicted of rape two decades ago, has now become the first Texan ever exonerated by DNA evidence after death. Lawyers with the Innocence Project of Texas handled the case, and Sunday night they're speaking out for the first time since the historical ruling was handed down last Friday.
The long-awaited exoneration came in an Austin Courtroom. Judge Charles Baird announced Timothy Cole was cleared of the rape of a fellow Texas Tech student, years after he died in prison. Natalie Roetzel, with the Innocence Project of Texas, says now that they have the judge's opinion on Cole's innocence, they'll seek a formal pardon from Governor Perry and try for reformed legislation on wrongful convictions.
