The first dangerous animal hearing of 2009 involves a dog attack at a local bar. About a month ago, a Rottweiler puppy attacked Erika Pena in the upstairs office of Shooterz Shot Bar in the Depot District.

The dog bit her in the face, and the injury required 16 stitches. Animal services officials heard testimony and declared the Rottweiler a 'dangerous dog.' The owner's friend Dona Owen spoke out about the ruling, "I've got to re-evaluate my training or my childrearing and change what I'm doing, and yes, this has been a very big wake up call to her, and I think she's going to comply and do what she needs to do."
