With a salmonella scare and now the plant in Plainview closing, some peanut producers are worried about the future of their crop.

Peanut farmer James Martin says anytime a plant closes, it affects him because there's less product being put out.

He says with prices and demand down, tough times are ahead.

"It's scary because we many not be able to get a price that's good enough to even plant them this year," Martin says.

Martin says another big factor in peanut production is weather, so he's hoping for rain this growing season.
