An increasing number of car accidents caused by cell phone use has Texas lawmakers once again considering cell phone restrictions for drivers.
Some of the proposed restrictions include no hand-held phones, which means only hands-free devices in the car.
Another option is drivers could use hand-held phones, except near schools.
Either way, DPS officials say enforcing any such laws would be hard to do.
"The unfortunate thing is how do we regulate it and how do we mandate it and enforce it because it's very difficult," Cpl. John Gonzales says.
Currently, there is a law prohibiting newly licensed teenaged drivers from using a cell phones during their first six months of driving.
