The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission raids a Wolfforth Alcohol retailer Wednesday afternoon, seizing and destroying $200,000 worth of product. TABC officials tell us the Kwick Food Mart in Wollforth has been selling products 'unfit for consumption' after a fire broke out at the store in November. All that smoke and fire damage made their product unfit to sell.

Now, after the fire, TABC told the store's owner numerous times to get rid of the alcohol because of smoke and fire damage. But -- not only did they not get rid of it all, they've also been selling it to another local retailer.

So today officials seized around 7,000 containers and destroyed them. It's estimated to be about $200,000 dollars worth of product. The property owner now faces several charges for possession of the damaged product and for selling it, at the same time risking the public's health.

Sgt. Michael Lockhart, TABC: "We filed administrative charges for the retailer, because a retailer here can't sell to another retailer here legally. And we had that, and then we had sale of alcohol that was unfit for consumption, and possesion of alcohol that was unfit for consumption. Typically at a store like this, if they had it and they put it in the back, it wouldn't be a big issue. But when it's still being sold, it becomes, that status of being unfit for consumption is more important."

Now -- Sergeant Lockhart tells us the owner of the store who bought the damage product could face a charge as well, but they're still working on that with the DA's office. They're also still trying to track down any other damaged product that could've been sold in the area.
